Making a Witch's Hat out of Fondant | Halloween Cake Decorating!

Now that it's October, I couldn't miss out on the chance to make some Halloween themed bakes could I?! There's quite a few coming up this month- so feel free to leave any requests in the comments and I'll try to fit some more in!
Witch cupcakes are definitely a must have for any Halloween party and so I'm going to show you how to make a witch's hat out of fondant to top your cupcakes!
You will need:

  • Black fondant
  • Red Fondant (or whichever colour you would like!)
  • Rolling pin
  • A small knife

First, roll a medium ball of black fondant in your hands and then using a rolling pin, roll it flat without making it too thin! (You can also use the palm of your hand if you don't have a rolling pin!)

Then, roll a larger ball of black fondant. Using your hands, roll it into a cone shape, then bend the end of the cone slightly.

Attach the cone to the flattened black fondant.

Using a rolling pin, roll out the red fondant, again not making it too thin.

Using your little knife, cut out a strip of red fondant, long enough to go all the way around the bottom of the cone.

And that's it! These will look fabulous on cupcakes topped with buttercream. I'm loving Pinterest for Halloween inspiration at the moment!
